Dharma

‘Dharma’ is a Sanskrit word (‘dhamma’ in Pali) which can mean the natural order or way of things. When used in Buddhism, it also refers both to the teachings of the Buddha. So, when we’re living ‘in accordance with the dharma’, we’re said to be living in harmony with the natural way of things, which, when practised over time, leads to liberation from the pervasive sense of unease that characterises experience.

After meditating for many years (in Tibetan and Zen practices, and studying yoga intensively), I rediscovered the Buddha’s teaching. Like many people, I was searching for a way to bring relief from unease - I experienced a lot of anxiety and restlessness in my life - and I didn’t know how to be with it, I didn’t understand why it kept appearing. It was when I started exploring the body, heart and mind through Insight Meditation, that something clicked, and I started to see how and why I suffered. I found some relief, and importantly, some understanding. Now, there is more beauty, peace, joy, and happiness in my life, and I can hold suffering, when it does arise, with kindness and equanimity.

It is a great joy to me that I have been gifted the opportunity to help point others towards these practices and teachings that have been so transformative for me - the radical teachings of freedom and compassion the Buddha gifted to us over 2,500 years ago!
